RESTYLING
If a fur has been properly cared for over the years
(annual storage and cleaning), there are many options
available. The style can be updated into a more modern
silhouette. It can be used as a liner by having an outer
shell made in fabric such as micro - fibre,
cashmere/woolblends or leather. You might consider using
the fur as a trim on a coat, suit or sweater.
SHEARING OLD FURS
Did you know you can shear your old racoon coat, your old fox coat. This would eliminate alot of weight and bulkiness to the garment. You would wear it more often and can be used on a daily basis from end of October till at least March.
STORAGE
Professional storage during summer months is most important
in maximizing the longevity of your garment. Home storage
using air conditioning or a cedar closet will not
protect your fur from drying out or from dust, dirt,
or insect damage. Fur vaults are specifically designed
to protect the lasting quality of your fur.
FUR CLEANING
Furs should be cleaned once a year. They may look not
look dirty, but they need conditioning in order to keep
them soft and fresh. Cleaning and glazing is a dry process.
It cannot damage your fur, rather, cleaning enhances it.
REPAIRS
Have small rips or tears repaired immediately to prevent
more expensive repairs later.
If your coat is important to the family, a teddy bear
can be made from your fur for sentimental reasons.
